Should I go to the Magh Mela or the Haridwar Kumbh in 2027?

How many days should I plan for a Kumbh visit?
One full day can be enough on an ordinary bathing day, but plan about three days for an Amrit Snan, because vehicle access can close from the day before. A week or more suits camps, satsang and kalpvas. How long to stay at the Kumbh.

Is the third Nashik Amrit Snan on 11 or 12 September 2027?

It is planned for Mon 27 Mar to Sat 27 May 2028, and no bathing date has been announced yet. A 2024 state plan proposed three shahi snans and seven parva snans between 9 Apr and 8 May 2028, without naming the days. Ujjain Simhastha 2028 dates.
When will the Ujjain shahi snan dates be announced?
No date has been given. Last time, the state’s website listed the 2016 bathing dates by April 2015, and the three shahi snans were fixed with the Akhara Parishad on 17 March 2016, five weeks before the first one. What is announced for Ujjain 2028.

How do I reach Nashik for the Kumbh? Nashik Kumbh kaise jaye?
Most pilgrims come by train to Nashik Road station, by air to Ozar airport, or by road and bus. Ramkund is about 10 km from Nashik Road station, and Trimbakeshwar is a separate town about 28 to 30 km away. How to reach Nashik Kumbh.
How do I get from Nashik to Trimbakeshwar? Nashik se Trimbakeshwar kaise jaye?

Should I stay in Nashik or in Trimbakeshwar?

How do I check a Kumbh tent or hotel booking before I pay? Kumbh Mela booking kaise kare?
Get the seller’s full name, address and cancellation terms in writing, pay the business and not a personal UPI ID, and check that any government site ends in gov.in or nic.in. If you have been cheated, call 1930 or report at cybercrime.gov.in the same day. Is this Kumbh booking real? Six checks.

How will I reach the ghat on a Haridwar bathing day? Haridwar Kumbh mein ghat tak kaise pahunchein?
The 2027 traffic and shuttle plan has not been published. Last time, the police plan reported on 1 April 2021 kept vehicles out of Haridwar city from 8 to 15 April, sent them to outer parking by the road they came on and ran shuttle buses from there. Inside Haridwar Kumbh: getting around.
What happens at the Nashik flag hoisting on 31 October 2026? Nashik Kumbh kab shuru hoga?
Flags go up at Ramkund and Kushavarta together, at 12:02 PM (reported); it opens the Simhastha and is not a bathing day. The police traffic notice is not out yet; in 2015 parking plans were reported the day before the opening, so follow police and mela instructions on the day. Which is the main bathing ghat at the Ujjain Simhastha?
Ram Ghat on the Shipra, in the old city west of Mahakaleshwar and the Harsiddhi temple; the Ujjain district says the shahi snan takes place there. In 2016 the Vaishnava akharas bathed at Ram Ghat and the Shaiva akharas at Dutt Akhara ghat. Ram Ghat, Ujjain.
What should I carry to the Kumbh?
Carry less than you think: a small bag that closes, ID and phone numbers on paper, shoes you have worn before and a charged power bank. Add warm layers in January and February, rain cover for the Nashik monsoon and light cotton for Ujjain. Kumbh packing list.

What is the Kumbh Mela? Kumbh Mela kya hai?
A Hindu pilgrimage held in turn at four river places: Prayagraj, Haridwar, Nashik–Trimbakeshwar and Ujjain, centred on a holy bath. By tradition, drops of amrita fell at these four places when the gods and the asuras churned the ocean. Understand the Kumbh.
Why is the Kumbh held every twelve years? Kumbh Mela 12 saal mein kyon lagta hai?
By tradition the timing follows Jupiter, which takes about twelve years to pass through the zodiac, so a full Kumbh returns to the same place about every twelve years. It is not a fixed event every three years, and each date still needs a formal announcement. Kumbh cycle and timing.
What is the difference between Kumbh, Ardh Kumbh and Maha Kumbh?
Ardh Kumbh usually means the gathering about six years into the cycle, at Haridwar or Prayagraj; Maha Kumbh is the central government’s name for Prayagraj’s great gathering, as in 2025. What is an Amrit Snan, and is it the same as a Shahi Snan? Amrit snan kya hota hai?
In most use, yes: Amrit Snan is the newer name for the Shahi Snan, the main bathing days of a Kumbh, when by tradition the akharas go to the river in procession and bathe first. Why do people take a Kumbh snan, and must I bathe? Kumbh snan kyon kiya jata hai?
Many devotees believe a bath at a holy Kumbh time cleanses them spiritually; this is faith and tradition, and no result is promised. Bathing is your own choice: you can come for darshan, prayer or to learn without going into the water. Kumbh snan guide.
Who are the Naga sadhus, and what is an akhara? Naga sadhu kya hota hai?

What is kalpvas, and when is it in 2027? Kalpvas kab se shuru hai?

Why are the Ujjain and Nashik Kumbhs called Simhastha? Ujjain Simhastha kya hai?
In Hindu astrological tradition, the Kumbh at Ujjain and at Nashik–Trimbakeshwar is held when Jupiter is in Simha (Leo), which gives the name Simhastha. Different Sun conditions put Nashik’s main baths in the monsoon of 2027 and Ujjain’s in spring and early summer 2028. Why it is called Simhastha.

What is the official Haridwar Kumbh website, and is there an official map?
The official site is haridwarkumbh.uk.gov.in, launched on 12 Oct 2026, and it has an Interactive Mela Map. The map’s Proposed Sector Plan, with 24 parking points and 9 lost-and-found centres, is a plan and can change. How to use the official Haridwar map.
Is there an official Ujjain Simhastha 2028 website or app?
Not yet. On 18 Oct 2026 we found no Simhastha 2028 website or app, so follow the Ujjain district site, ujjain.nic.in; for 2016 the state’s Simhastha website was online by 24 April 2015 and the official app was dedicated by 3 March 2016. Official Kumbh websites, apps and helplines.
Has the government announced the Magh Mela 2027 dates? Magh Mela 2027 ki tarikh aayi?
Not as a published list. On 20 Oct 2026 the Prayagraj Mela Authority had none, and a Government of India tourism listing gives 15 Jan to 6 Mar 2027; for 2026 the bathing dates came out on 15 September 2025, about three and a half months ahead. Magh Mela 2027 updates.
Do I need a pass or registration to bathe at the Kumbh?
None has been announced for any of the four melas, and on 18 Oct 2026 no official page offered a pass, package or paid registration. If one is announced, use only the channel the official notice names, never a seller. Official Kumbh websites and apps.
Is there a Kumbh helpline or emergency number?
