Kumbh Itineraries: Ready-Made Plans and a Plan Builder

Pick your mela, how many days you have and your bathing day, and get a plan step by step. There are four ready-made plans: Haridwar with Rishikesh, the Magh Mela with Varanasi and Ayodhya, Nashik with Trimbakeshwar and Panchavati, and Ujjain with Omkareshwar.

EvergreenChecked on Tue 20 Oct 2026

Places, distances and train times were checked on 20 October 2026. Temple times appear only where the temple trust publishes them.

On a main bathing day, keep to the bath. Roads close and vehicles stop far out on those days, so the other places fit on the days before and after.

Four ready-made plans

Bathe at Har Ki Pauri, climb to the hill temples of the goddess, and add a day upstream in Rishikesh. Haridwar and Rishikesh are about 25 km apart, linked by train and road. On a main bathing day keep to the bath, and do the rest on the days around it.

Bathe at the Sangam during the Magh Mela, see the old shrines beside it, then go on to Kashi Vishwanath in Varanasi and the Ram temple in Ayodhya. The three cities form a triangle linked by rail and road. Fix your Sangam bathing day first and fit the other two cities after it.

Bathe at Ramkund in Panchavati, the old temple quarter of Nashik, and at Kushavarta in Trimbakeshwar, where the Godavari rises. The two bathing centres are about 28 to 30 km apart. On an Amrit Snan day, pick one centre and stay near it.

Bathe in the Shipra at Ram Ghat, have darshan of Mahakal, and add Omkareshwar on the Narmada, the other Jyotirlinga of Madhya Pradesh. Omkareshwar is about 135 km from Ujjain by road, via Indore. The Simhastha bathing days for 2028 have not been announced.

Haridwar with Rishikesh, in two days

Bathe at Har Ki Pauri, climb to the hill temples of the goddess, and add a day upstream in Rishikesh. Haridwar and Rishikesh are about 25 km apart, linked by train and road. On a main bathing day keep to the bath, and do the rest on the days around it.

Day 1

  1. Dawn
    Har Ki Pauri and Brahmakund

Pilgrims bathe in the Ganga at Har Ki Pauri. By tradition, drops of amrit fell at Brahmakund, the part of the ghat where the evening aarti is held.

About 2 km on foot, roughly 25 minutes (OpenStreetMap foot route). From Haridwar railway station.
  2. Morning
    Mansa Devi Temple

Pilgrims climb Bilwa Parvat for darshan of Mansa Devi. With the Chandi Devi and Maya Devi temples it completes what the state calls Haridwar's Siddhapeeth triangle.

A climb of about 3 km on foot, or the Mansa Devi ropeway (Uttarakhand Tourism).
  3. Afternoon
    Maya Devi Temple

Pilgrims have darshan of Maya Devi, a temple devotees hold very sacred, within walking distance of Har Ki Pauri.

About 1.4 km on foot, roughly 20 minutes (OpenStreetMap foot route). After coming down from the hill.
  4. Afternoon
    Daksh Mahadev Temple, Kankhal

The Daksheshwar Mahadev temple on the southern edge of Kankhal is linked by tradition with King Daksha's yagna and the story of Sati. The Sati Kund is in the temple complex.

About 4.7 km by road; OpenStreetMap estimates 10 minutes on a clear road.
  5. Evening
Ganga aarti at Har Ki Pauri

Pilgrims gather for the Ganga aarti at dusk, with towering lamps, temple bells, conch shells and lamps floated on the river.

About 5.2 km by road; OpenStreetMap estimates 10 minutes on a clear road.No official clock time is published. The official Kumbh site says the aarti is held every morning and evening.

Day 2

  1. Morning
    Triveni Ghat, Rishikesh

Pilgrims take a dip at Triveni Ghat, the best-known bathing ghat of Rishikesh, before they visit the temples of the town, Uttarakhand Tourism says.

By train, NTES listed 15 trains from Haridwar to Yog Nagari Rishikesh, four of them daily, taking about 1 to 2 hours; the station is about 4 km from Triveni Ghat (OpenStreetMap). By road it is about 25 km from Har Ki Pauri to Triveni Ghat; OpenStreetMap estimates 30 minutes on a clear road.
  2. Morning
    Bharat Mandir, Rishikesh

One of the oldest shrines in Rishikesh, near Triveni Ghat. It is said to have been founded by Adi Shankaracharya, and its Vishnu idol is carved from a single black saligram stone.

About 0.7 km on foot, roughly 10 minutes (OpenStreetMap foot route).
  3. Afternoon
    Swargashram and Ram Jhula

Swargashram is a cluster of ashrams on the east bank of the Ganga, by the Ram Jhula suspension bridge. Most of its ashrams teach yoga and spiritual studies.

About 4.2 km on foot, roughly 55 minutes (OpenStreetMap foot route). Or take local transport.
  4. Evening
    Evening aarti at Triveni Ghat

Pilgrims gather for the evening aarti, with lights, drums and chanting, as lamps flicker along the ghat.

About 4.4 km on foot, roughly 1 hour (OpenStreetMap foot route). Or take local transport. No official clock time is published.
