On 18 October 2026, Haridwar Kumbh 2027 had its own official website, haridwarkumbh.uk.gov.in, and the Nashik-Trimbakeshwar Kumbh Mela Authority published its pages on the Nashik Divisional Commissioner's website. Ujjain Simhastha 2028 and Prayagraj Magh Mela 2027 had no official website of their own, and none of the four had an official app. In an emergency anywhere in India, call 112.

How to tell an official site

  1. Read the end of the addressLook just before the first single slash. Every official mela site we found ends in gov.in or nic.in.
  2. gov.in: a government bodygov.in is the Government of India’s domain. Under the Ministry of Electronics and IT’s 2019 guidelines it is for government bodies, and the National Informatics Centre (NIC) registers it. A state’s events and departments are given addresses under the state’s own zone, which is why the Haridwar site is haridwarkumbh.uk.gov.in (Uttarakhand) and the Nashik Authority’s pages are on divcomnashik.maharashtra.gov.in.
  3. nic.in: hosted by NICnic.in addresses are government sites built and hosted by NIC, such as the district sites haridwar.nic.in, ujjain.nic.in and prayagraj.nic.in.
  4. Ignore the words in frontWords such as kumbh, mela, official or gov earlier in an address do not make a site official. Nor does an ending such as .com, .org, .co.in or another .in name.
  5. Do not trust a label or an advertA site that calls itself “official” or “verified”, or sells passes, stays or tent bookings, is not proof of anything. The Home Ministry’s cyber crime centre has warned of fake websites, social media pages, WhatsApp accounts and paid search adverts that offer pilgrims stays and tours, and fake Maha Kumbh 2025 sites offered tent bookings near the Sangam. A paid advert can appear above the official site in search results. Type the address yourself, or follow a link from a district site: haridwar.nic.in, for example, links to haridwarkumbh.uk.gov.in.
  6. Report or check a suspicious siteUse the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal, cybercrime.gov.in, which has a “Report Suspect” option, or call 1930.

Warning signs of a fake booking

The Kumbh scams police warned about in 2025 sold things that did not exist: tents, rooms, passes and causes to donate to, offered through websites, social media pages or WhatsApp numbers that were not the authority’s own. These are the signs they named.

  1. 1You found it through an advert or a forward

    The national cybercrime centre (I4C) advises checking before you click any sponsored or unknown link on Google, Facebook or WhatsApp.

  2. 2It says "government approved" but the official site does not list it

    The fake tent page The Tribune contacted in 2025 made exactly this claim. Official addresses end in gov.in or nic.in.

  3. 3You are asked to pay a person

    A personal UPI ID or wallet instead of the official booking page. That page wanted an advance in a personal wallet and refused a video call.

  4. 4Someone is selling a pass

    If a pass is ever announced for a bathing day, get it only through the channel the official notice names, never from a seller.

  5. 5It asks for your OTP, password or photos of your ID

    Never share a one-time code (OTP) or a password with a seller.

Kumbh scams reported in 2025: PIB, I4C (Ministry of Home Affairs), The Tribune, Business Today and state police advisories. If you have been cheated, call 1930 or report at cybercrime.gov.in the same day.

How to check before you pay

  1. Start from the official website, not a search resultFor 2025, police and the UP government pointed pilgrims to kumbh.gov.in. For 2027, the official Haridwar site, haridwarkumbh.uk.gov.in, has a directory of hotels, dharamshalas, ashrams and camps, and links to the GMVN and KMVN government rest houses. It advises choosing official or verified providers and checking cancellation policies.
  2. Check the web address letter by letterThe National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal lets anyone check a website under its “Suspect Data” section and report a suspicious one with “Report Suspect”.
  3. Pay the business, not a personKeep the receipt, booking number and screenshots.
  4. Be wary of strangers who offer helpHaridwar’s official guidance asks pilgrims not to accept services or assistance from unauthorised vendors or unfamiliar people, and the 2025 Prayagraj guidance said not to trust strangers.
  5. Run it through our booking checkIt shows what each Kumbh authority has and has not announced.

If you have been cheated

  1. Report it the same dayCall 1930, the national cybercrime helpline, or report at cybercrime.gov.in. The Home Ministry says its fraud reporting system is meant for immediate reporting, to stop money being moved on.
  2. Tell your bank or UPI appDo it straight away.
  3. Report the site and go to the policeReport the website or page through “Report Suspect” on the portal, and file a complaint with your local police.
  4. If you are in danger, call 112

Before Maha Kumbh 2025 the Uttar Pradesh government set up a special Maha Kumbh cyber police station for fraudulent websites, social media scams and fake links. By the end of December 2024 its experts had identified around 50 suspicious websites, the Press Information Bureau said.

Haridwar 2027

Checked on the official sites on 18 October 2026. The Chief Minister of Uttarakhand launched the official website on 12 October 2026. The Haridwar district website links to it, which confirms the address.

Nashik 2027

Checked on the official sites on 18 October 2026. The Nashik-Trimbakeshwar Kumbh Mela Authority has no separate website yet. Its official pages sit in a Kumbh Mela 2027 section of the Nashik Divisional Commissioner’s website.

Ujjain 2028

Checked on the official sites on 18 October 2026. We found no official Simhastha 2028 website or app. The Ujjain district website is the official site to follow for now.

Prayagraj Magh Mela 2027

Checked on the official sites on 18 October 2026. The Uttar Pradesh government sets up the Magh Mela at the Sangam every year. The Prayagraj Mela Authority’s website, kumbh.gov.in, still showed Maha Kumbh 2025, and we found no Magh Mela 2027 website.

Can I register or buy a pass for the Kumbh online?

Not on an official site yet. On 18 October 2026 the Haridwar site’s “Register Now” page said “Coming Soon” and had no form, and none of the official pages for the four melas offered a pass, package or paid registration. Check any offer with Is this Kumbh booking real? before you pay.
