Haridwar Kumbh 2027
How to Reach Haridwar Kumbh 2027
You can reach Haridwar by train, road or air. Haridwar railway station is the main station for the city, and the district travel guide names Jolly Grant Airport, near Dehradun, as the nearest airport.
This page covers the basic ways to reach Haridwar. It does not give live train or bus times, special services, road diversions, parking or the last stretch, so check these with the transport company or the authority in charge close to your trip.
When you work out how to reach Haridwar Kumbh, plan two things separately: the trip to Haridwar, and how you will move around on the event day.
From your city
Which way suits you?
| How you travel | Best for | Check before you book |
|---|---|---|
| Train | Coming straight into Haridwar when a suitable train runs | Train number, running day, boarding station, latest railway notice |
| Intercity bus | Regional trips, and people who can be flexible about road travel | Bus stand, bus company, timetable, event diversions |
| Car or hired vehicle | Groups who want control over when they leave and their luggage | Final parking rule, vehicle limits, drop-off point |
| Flight, then road | People coming from far away | Flight, onward vehicle, road conditions, total transfer time |
By train
Haridwar railway station links the city with the wider Indian Railways network. A route listed on a general visitor page does not mean a particular train runs on the day you want.
Before you book, check:
- the exact station names and codes
- the train number and the date it runs
- the arrival time, not just the departure time
- the cancellation and waiting-list rules
- whether a railway announcement for the event changes boarding, exits or local movement
Do not count on a special train you read about in the news. Wait until it appears in the railway’s own booking system or notices.
By road and bus
Haridwar has road links with Delhi, nearby states and other parts of Uttarakhand. On big event days, the real question is not just whether the highway reaches Haridwar. It is where your vehicle will be allowed to stop under the current plan.
Treat these as separate decisions:
- Your road route between cities.
- The bus stand or drop-off point you are allowed to use.
- The last stretch to where you are staying.
- Your walking plan to the holy place you want to reach.
We do not predict event traffic or suggest a live route on this page.
By air
The district travel guide names Jolly Grant Airport, in the Dehradun area, as the nearest airport. You will still need a road transfer to Haridwar. Compare the whole door-to-door trip, not just the flight time, and leave room for road controls.
The district’s pages give different distances for the airport in different places. So we do not give one exact distance in kilometres here. Check the current route with the airport, a map service and your transport company.
Plan the last stretch separately
While event controls are on, do not treat Haridwar railway station, a bus stand, a hotel and Har Ki Pauri as one easy route. Ask yourself:
- Where exactly will I arrive?
- Where is the place I have booked to stay?
- How much luggage can our group carry on foot?
- What will we do if vehicles are stopped outside the area we expected?
- Does everyone in the group have the address of the stay and a meeting plan?
Read the Haridwar ghats guide before you choose where to go. Read the where to stay guide before you assume a place is close.
Booking checklist
- Check where the Haridwar Kumbh dates stand.
- Book with flexible terms, or with change rules you clearly understand.
- Save booking references offline.
- Do not carry more than the group can manage.
- Keep your ID in your hand luggage.
- Check government transport news again just before you leave.
- Never trust a forwarded diversion map that does not say who issued it and when.
The district travel guide and the state’s preparation records help with the basic ways in. They do not set the final routes, parking or timetables for 2027.
