Ujjain Simhastha 2028 · Where to stay
Where to Stay for Ujjain Simhastha 2028
For the Simhastha of 27 March to 27 May 2028, you can stay in the old city near Mahakaleshwar and Ram Ghat, in other parts of Ujjain, or in Indore, 53 km away, and travel in. We found no official booking channel for Simhastha tents or camps when we checked on 16 October 2026.
Area notes are from the Ujjain district's list of places to stay and the Shri Mahakaleshwar temple website. Plans for a tent city, homestays and new hotels are from Madhya Pradesh government releases of 2026; none had an official booking channel when we checked. This page names no property and gives no prices.
No bathing date has been announced, so book only what you can cancel, and check any offer before you pay.

Areas in and around Ujjain
Think about how you will get to Ram Ghat and Mahakaleshwar from your room, not only about the room.
Near Mahakaleshwar and Ram Ghat
The old city puts you closest to the temple and the main Simhastha ghat. The temple’s website places the Harsiddhi temple between Mahakal to the east and Ram Ghat to the west.
The Shri Mahakaleshwar Temple Management Committee runs two guest houses (Atithi Niwas) for devotees near the temple. You can book them online on the temple’s own website; its helpdesk is 18002331008.
Elsewhere in Ujjain
The Ujjain district’s list of places to stay sorts them as government or state-owned, non-profit and commercial. It includes hotels of the state tourism corporation in Freeganj, and commercial hotels along the Indore Road and near the Mahakal and Harsiddhi temples.
The list is short and was not made for the Simhastha, so use it to understand the areas, not as a full directory.
Indore
Indore is 53 km from Ujjain by the district’s figure and has the nearest airport. On 16 October 2026, NTES listed 44 trains from Indore Junction to Ujjain Junction, most taking about 1 to 1.5 hours. See How to reach Ujjain.
What the state is planning for 2028
These are plans from Madhya Pradesh government releases. None of them could be booked through an official channel when we checked.
- Tent city: in February 2026 the Chief Minister said a tent city will be developed in Ujjain for the Simhastha, on the lines of the Rann Utsav in Kutch.
- Homestays and parking: in April 2026 he asked for homestays, parking and public amenities within 100 km of Ujjain.
- New hotels: in June 2026 he asked for faster building permits for hotels in the Indore and Ujjain region.
- Room count: the state is collecting data on the hotels, lodges, dharamshalas and homestays in Ujjain, Indore and Dewas.
We will add an official booking channel here, with its source, when the state or the Simhastha administration publishes one.
What to check before you book
- Can you cancel? The bathing days are not announced. Book only a room or tent you can cancel or change.
- Is the place real? Check the address on a map, and call the number on the property’s own website, not one in a forwarded message.
- How will you reach the ghat and the temple? The 2028 traffic and parking plan has not been published. Ask how far the stay is from Ram Ghat on foot.
- Who are you paying? Pay the property or an official website directly. For the temple’s guest houses, book only on the temple’s own website.
- Is a package tied to a “confirmed” bathing date? No shahi snan date has been announced, so that date does not exist yet.
Before you pay anyone for a tent, room or package, read Is this Kumbh booking real? or run the quick check below.
1Does the seller give a full name, a street address and a GST number?
2Is the price written down, with what is and is not included?
3Are you asked to pay only to a personal UPI ID or bank account?
4Is there a written cancellation policy?
5Does it say "official" or "government approved" without a link to the authority's own list?
6Are you being rushed with "only today" or "last few tents"?
