Ram Ghat on the Shipra, in Ujjain's old city, is the main ghat of the Ujjain Simhastha. The Ujjain district says the Simhastha's shahi snan takes place here, and every year Mahakal's sawari comes down to it on the Mondays of Shravan and Bhadrapada.
Place facts and traditions are from the Ujjain district, Shri Mahakaleshwar temple and Madhya Pradesh Tourism websites; works for 2028 are as the state government and news reports described them up to October 2026. Bathing days and ghat arrangements for 2028 are not announced.
The Simhastha is planned for 27 March to 27 May 2028. No bathing date has been announced, and the state has not said how Ram Ghat will be used on the main days.

According to tradition, Lord Rama performed the last rites of his father at this ghat on the Shipra, and it is named after him.
The Ujjain district places Ujjain among the seven cities that, by the Garuda Purana, can give salvation, and says that the Shahi bath of the Simhastha takes place at Ram Ghat. The Mahakaleshwar temple’s website, too, puts the temple and Ram Ghat at the heart of the city’s sacred places.
Mahakaleshwar Temple is close by but is a separate visit, with the Harsiddhi temple between the two. See Mahakaleshwar Temple and the Simhastha and the Harsiddhi Temple.

Ram Ghat is a place of worship all year. Respect the rituals you see, and ask before you photograph anyone. Incredible India also lists the ghat as the venue of Vikramotsav, a festival of Ujjain’s heritage, next held in March 2027.
At the last Simhastha, in 2016, there were three Shahi Snans and seven other bathing dates, and for the first time the Shaiva and Vaishnava akharas agreed to bathe at the same time, the Press Information Bureau reported.
