Bathing days this plan suits
- 0 Simhastha 2028, 27 March to 27 May 2028 (expected)ExpectedNo bathing day has been announced. Use the plan on any day in the Simhastha window, and fix the bath once the dates are out.
On a main bathing day, last time
- 2016 In 2016 vehicles were to be stopped at satellite towns on six main roads, with city buses and mini vans taking pilgrims on to parking near the mela. The Mahakal temple area, Barnagar road and Mangalnath road were no-vehicle zones, so pilgrims walked about 2 to 3 km, the traffic police said.
- 2016 In 2016 trains to Ujjain were to stop at flag stations 10 to 12 km out, with railway buses into Ujjain and the mela area.
- 2028 For 2028 the state plans 30 parking sectors over more than 3,000 hectares, parking in neighbouring districts too, and approach roads from the parking to the ghats. No 2028 traffic plan has been published.
Past arrangements with their year, not the plan for the next mela. Check the mela administration's notices before you travel.
Good to know
- There is no direct train to Omkareshwar: NTES found no train from Ujjain or Indore to Omkareshwar Road. Trains run from Ujjain to Indore (44 listed, 15 daily, about 1 to 3 hours), and the onward trip is by road.
- Mahakaleshwar and Omkareshwar publish their own times. No trust or district hours were found for Harsiddhi, Kal Bhairav, Mangalnath, Chintaman Ganesh, Sandipani Ashram or Mamleshwar, so those are left empty.
Distances inside each city from OpenStreetMap routes; between cities from district, tourism and railway sources. Temple times only where the temple trust publishes them. Checked on Tue 20 Oct 2026.

Questions people ask
What can I see in two days on the Ujjain with Omkareshwar plan?
Day 1: Ram Ghat on the Shipra, Shri Mahakaleshwar Temple, Harsiddhi Temple, Chintaman Ganesh Temple, Sandhya Aarti at Mahakaleshwar. Day 2: Koti Tirtha Ghat on the Narmada, Shri Omkareshwar Jyotirlinga, Mamleshwar Temple, Evening aarti to the Narmada at Koti Tirtha Ghat.
Can I follow this plan on a main bathing day?
Keep the main bathing day for the bath alone. On those days roads close and vehicles stop far out, so do the other places on the days before or after. In 2016 vehicles were to be stopped at satellite towns on six main roads, with city buses and mini vans taking pilgrims on to parking near the mela. The Mahakal temple area, Barnagar road and Mangalnath road were no-vehicle zones, so pilgrims walked about 2 to 3 km, the traffic police said.
