Chintaman Ganesh Temple during the Ujjain Simhastha 2028
The Chintaman Ganesh Temple, about 7 km from Ujjain city on the Ujjain-Fatehabad railway line, houses three old idols of Ganesha: Chintaman, Ichhaman and Siddhi Vinayak. Pilgrims believe that darshan here fulfils wishes and removes worry, and every Wednesday of Chaitra draws a large gathering, the Ujjain district says.
Place facts and traditions are from the Ujjain district, Madhya Pradesh Tourism and Shri Mahakaleshwar temple websites, read on 16 October 2026. We found no official source for temple hours. The railway works are as the Madhya Pradesh government reported them in February 2026. Arrangements for the 2028 Simhastha are not announced.
It is a place of darshan, not a Simhastha bathing ghat. The Simhastha is planned for 27 March to 27 May 2028. No bathing date has been announced, and the temple has not announced its arrangements for 2028.

The Chintaman Ganesh tradition
The Ganesha idol here is believed to be self-manifested (swayambhu), the Ujjain district says, and pilgrims believe that seeing it fulfils every wish and removes worry. MP Tourism also describes Chintaman Ganesh as believed to ease all worries.
The temple has three idols of Ganesha, according to the Mahakaleshwar temple’s website: Chintaman, the largest, then Ichhaman in the middle, and Siddhi Vinayak. In the tradition the temple’s website gives, the Chintaman idol was installed by Sita.
MP Tourism calls it the largest Ganesha temple in Ujjain, built in the 11th and 12th centuries under the Paramaras, and points to the carving on its pillars.

Getting there
The district and MP Tourism put the temple about 7 km from the city, on the Ujjain-Fatehabad railway line, and the district notes that it can be reached by road. Official sources do not give a distance from Ram Ghat, the main Simhastha ghat.
There is a railway station of the same name. In February 2026 the state government said Indian Railways had approved an 8.60 km bypass line between Naikhedi and Chintaman Ganesh stations, so that trains no longer need to reverse at Ujjain.
