Dev Doli Amrit Snan: Monday 15 March 2027
The third Amrit Snan of Haridwar Kumbh 2027 falls on Monday 15 March 2027. The akharas take their ceremonial bath first, in an order the mela administration sets with them.
This date is listed on the official Haridwar Kumbh website (checked 18 October 2026). It was not in the mela administration's April 2026 announcement. By the Tirth panchang for Haridwar, the tithi at sunrise is Phalguna Shukla Saptami.
Dev Doli is a day the official website lists as an Amrit Snan. In Garhwal and Kumaon, a doli is the palanquin in which a village deity is carried in procession. The website has not yet published how the day will run.

What Dev Doli means
In the hill villages of Garhwal and Kumaon, a doli is the palanquin in which the deity of a village or hill shrine, the dev, is carried in procession. By tradition, for a Kumbh at Haridwar, deities are brought down from their shrines in their dolis to bathe in the Ganga. They come with their bearers and devotees, to the music of the dhol and damau drums, and they return to their shrines after the bath.
The official Haridwar Kumbh website lists Monday 15 March 2027 as Dev Doli, a traditional Amrit Snan of divine processions and ceremonial baths at which pilgrims and akharas gather at the ghats. The mela administration has said that the dates of the dolis’ bath and procession will be fixed by an auspicious muhurat, and that programmes of Uttarakhand’s folk culture are planned around them in Haridwar.
How the day runs
- Before the dayAt a first meeting in March 2026, chaired by the Mela Officer, officials discussed the date of the dolis’ bath, the procession route, halting places and traditional arrangements, and said 500 to 700 dev dolis from across Uttarakhand were expected. The route, the halting places and the police traffic plan for 15 March have not been published.
- The processionThe official Haridwar Kumbh website describes Dev Doli as a traditional Amrit Snan with divine processions and ceremonial baths, at which pilgrims and akharas gather at the ghats. At the 2021 Kumbh, the dev dolis went in procession from Premnagar Ashram through CCR to Har Ki Pauri, with dhol-damau music.
- The bathIn 2021 the dolis were bathed in the Ganga at Brahmakund and the president of Shri Ganga Sabha worshipped them; after the bath they left for their home shrines. That year the bath was kept small and symbolic.
- The akharasThe official website lists 15 March as an Amrit Snan, but the Juna Akhara’s calendar of July 2026 names only 6 March, 8 March and 14 April as its Amrit Snans. Whether, and in what order, the akharas bathe on 15 March has not been announced.
