Haridwar Kumbh 2027
Har Ki Pauri, Brahmakund and Haridwar Kumbh Ghats
Har Ki Pauri is a major ghat on the Ganga and the best-known holy landmark in Haridwar. But it is not the whole Kumbh area: the city has many more ghats, pilgrimage sites, neighbourhoods, temples and ashrams.
This page explains the holy places, which stay the same from year to year. It is not an official 2027 map of bathing areas, walking routes or crowd control.
This guide to the Haridwar Kumbh ghats explains the places themselves. Entry and bathing arrangements for the 2027 event will need later notices from the authorities.
Ghat by ghat
Key terms
| Term | What it means | Do not assume |
|---|---|---|
| Haridwar | The wider pilgrimage city and district | That every Kumbh activity happens at one ghat |
| Har Ki Pauri | A major Ganga ghat and the central holy landmark | That normal entry stays the same during a big event |
| Brahmakund | An especially sacred section linked with Har Ki Pauri | That every source draws its edges the same way |
| Panch Tirth | The city council’s list of five important holy places in Haridwar | That this is a 2027 list of event sectors |
| Kumbh ghats | Ghats used for the event under the current plan | That an old or normal-day list sets the 2027 plan |
Har Ki Pauri
The Haridwar district administration describes Har Ki Pauri as a major and popular ghat on the Ganga. It is a living place of worship and riverside activity, not just a viewing point. Behave with respect, especially during bathing, aarti and prayer. Take photos modestly, ask before you photograph someone, and follow instructions on site, even on normal days.
You will see the name spelt in more than one way in English, such as Har Ki Pauri and Har-ki-Pauri. In Hindi it is usually written हर की पौड़ी. These spellings all mean the same place.
Brahmakund
Brahmakund is often described as the especially sacred bathing area within Har Ki Pauri. That religious link does not tell you a 2027 entry point, bathing time slot or group allocation. The space there is limited, and crowd controls during the event can change how people reach it.
The wider holy area
Nagar Nigam Haridwar, the city council, names five places as the Panch Tirth:
- Gangadwara, or Har Ki Pauri
- Kushavart
- Kankhal
- Bilwa Tirtha, linked with Mansa Devi
- Neel Parvat, linked with Chandi Devi
This shows that Haridwar’s pilgrimage area reaches well beyond one spot on the river.
This lasting background helps you understand the city. It does not mean you should fit every holy site into one crowded day.
How to use a ghat guide safely
Before you travel, keep these three questions apart:
- What is this place? Use sources on the holy places that stay the same year to year.
- Is it part of a 2027 arrangement? Use a dated event notice.
- How can I reach it on that day? Use the latest instructions from the authority in charge.
KumbhMela.info answers the first question. For the other two, it explains what proof you need. It does not give live directions.
Choosing where to stay
A place that looks close on a normal map can lack an easy walking route while event controls are on. Use the Haridwar stay guide to compare areas, and check details directly with the place you book. Do not choose only on a claimed distance to Har Ki Pauri.
Getting ready for your first visit
Agree on one clear meeting point. Carry only light essentials. Do not make the riverfront your family’s only plan for finding each other again.
What this page does not cover
- where each group bathes in 2027 (bathing allocation)
- live crowd levels at the ghats
- entry or exit gates
- parking and shuttle stops
- crowd predictions
- where emergency or medical posts are
- claims that a planned ghat project is finished
For any route or bathing allocation on an event day, follow a later notice from the authority in charge.
