Ramkund is about 10 km from Nashik Road railway station, according to the Nashik district, so the last stretch is a ride across the city, not a walk. On a normal day you go by city bus, auto-rickshaw or taxi. For the 2027 Amrit Snan days, the Kumbh Mela Authority plans shuttles from outer points and a final walk to the ghats, but the routes are not published yet.
Where the station is, and where Ramkund is
Nashik Road is the main railway station for Nashik city, but it is not in the old town. The district’s travel page puts the station about 11 km from the centre of the city. Ramkund is in Panchavati, on the Godavari, in the older part of Nashik. If you need Kushavarta instead, that is in Trimbakeshwar, a separate town further away.

These are map distances for ordinary days. They are not Kumbh travel times, and they do not tell you how close a vehicle can get to the ghat on a big day.
The last stretch on a normal day
City bus
Nashik’s city buses, Citilinc (also written Citylink), are run by the Nashik Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal, which the municipal corporation set up in 2021. The fleet was about 250 buses in August 2026, with new electric buses joining, the Free Press Journal reported. Since June 2026 you can pay on the bus by UPI or card. We could not open a published route list, so ask at the stop which bus goes towards Panchavati or Ramkund.
Auto or taxi
This is the simplest door-to-door option with luggage. Settle the fare or the meter before you set off, and keep the address of your stay written down.
Via the CBS
Ramkund is about 3 km from the CBS, the district says, so a ride that ends in the CBS area still leaves a short onward trip.
On to Trimbakeshwar
MSRTC’s 2025 timetable lists a Nashik to Trimbakeshwar shuttle bus every 30 minutes through the day on normal days. Our article on Nashik to Trimbakeshwar explains how the two centres connect.
What the Kumbh plan changes for rail arrivals
The railways and the Kumbh Mela Authority have both published plans for rail arrivals in 2027. None of them yet tells you which shuttle to take from the station or where it will stop.
Photo: Superfast1111, CC BY-SA 4.0, via Wikimedia Commons- Five stations, not one. Kumbh passengers are to be handled at Nashik Road, Devlali, Odha, Kherwadi and Kasbe Sukene, All India Radio reported in July 2025. Check which station your train actually uses.
- Station works. Central Railway’s Bhusawal division is building a 12-metre-wide foot overbridge at Nashik Road, widening platforms, adding six escalators and covered sheds, and making two permanent holding areas for the main bathing days, the Free Press Journal reported in July 2026.
- Shuttles, then walking. The authority’s interim plan of June 2026 says people arriving by train, bus, car or air will be moved from outer terminals to inner parking or drop points by designated transport, and that beyond inner parking, walking is the only way to the ghats, akharas and temples.
- Holding areas and colour codes. The same plan calls for extra holding areas in and around stations and bus terminals, ramps in preference to escalators, and colour-coded pathways.
As of 16 October 2026, we found no published shuttle route from Nashik Road station to Panchavati, no pick-up points and no walking routes for Amrit Snan days. Whether autos and taxis may enter the Panchavati area on those days is also not announced.
Planning your last stretch
Planning your last stretch
- Decide your bathing centre firstThe Ramkund guide covers Nashik, and Kushavarta is a different trip.
- Note the Amrit Snan datesThe Amrit Snans at Ramkund are on Monday 2 August, Tuesday 31 August and Saturday 11 September 2027. Amrit Snan days usually draw the most pilgrims; follow police and mela instructions on the day.
- Check your train on the dayUse NTES on the day you travel, including the station it stops at.
- Keep your stay’s address in handHave the full address, and a way to reach it, before you leave the platform.
- Allow for the monsoonThe bathing days fall in the monsoon. On 24 July 2026 the Godavari crossed the danger mark at Nashik and the Ramkund area was to stay closed for two days, PTI reported. See Nashik Kumbh in the monsoon.
Our how to reach Nashik Kumbh guide covers trains, buses and flights into the city, and the Mumbai to Nashik page lists the main trains from Mumbai. We will add the station shuttle routes, with their source, when they are published.
