The building and its displays do not change from year to year. The details here come from news reports (PTI in 2019 for the founder, ETV Bharat in 2019 for the floors and the 1983 opening); no official page was found. Opening hours are not confirmed, and arrangements for the 2027 Kumbh are not announced.

It is a modern temple of national heroes, saints and deities, not one of Haridwar's Panch Tirth and not a bathing ghat. We found no government or temple-trust page for it, so this page keeps to what news reports say.

Who founded the temple

In 2019 PTI reported the Vice President’s tribute to Swami Satyamitranand Giri as the seer who founded the Bharat Mata temple in Haridwar.

ETV Bharat says the building took about 11 years and that Indira Gandhi, then Prime Minister, inaugurated it in 1983 and dedicated it to the nation. We found no official record of these details, so treat them as reported, not confirmed.

Bharat Mata Mandir and the Kumbh

The temple has no ritual role in the Kumbh and is not a bathing place. The Kumbh baths are at Har Ki Pauri and at the ghats the mela administration opens on each bathing day; the Haridwar ghats guide explains the wider holy area.

The Haridwar Kumbh runs from Thursday 14 January to Tuesday 20 April 2027, with eleven bathing days listed on the official website (Provisional); see the dates page. The temple’s own arrangements for those months are not announced. Amrit Snan days usually draw the most pilgrims to Haridwar; follow police and mela instructions on the day.
