For Haridwar Kumbh 2027, no parking sites, shuttle routes or vehicle rules have been announced. The official website has sections for shuttles, parking and park-and-ride, but no details yet. If 2021 is a guide, expect private vehicles to be stopped outside the city on the big bathing days, with the last stretch on foot or by shuttle.
What has been said about 2027
- The master plan. In September 2025 the Chief Minister directed a master plan that clearly marks every sector, route, parking area, ghat and camp site. He asked for a traffic diversion plan and parking places, and for a shuttle service to be considered where parking is far away.
- Road works. Works begun in February 2026 include widening National Highway 334 (Delhi to Haridwar to Dehradun) and three temporary bridges. Foundation stones are not finished roads.
- Buses and shuttles. In July 2026 Amar Ujala reported the mela administration’s plan for temporary bus stations on the Kanwar Yatra model, at sites including Rishikul, Bairagi Dweep and Gaurishankar. A shuttle from Roorkee was being considered and 37 electric buses were being prepared. This is a news report of plans, not a notice.
- The official website. On 16 October 2026 its Plan Your Visit page had headings for shuttle services, public transport, parking and park-and-ride, and walking routes, with no locations, routes or fares.
How it worked in 2021
For the April 2021 shahi snans, the mela police barred vehicles from entering Haridwar city from 8 to 15 April 2021 and sent them to temporary parking by the direction they came from, according to Aaj Tak and Amar Ujala. Shuttle buses were planned for passengers.

Amar Ujala also reported that light vehicles from Delhi were turned at Purkazi towards Laksar instead of using the four-lane highway.
A recent example from 2026
Haridwar police made a similar plan for an ordinary bathing festival in 2026. For the Buddha Purnima bath that spring they barred heavy vehicles from the city and named car parks by direction: Alaknanda, Deendayal, Pant Dweep and Chamgadad Tapu for traffic from Delhi, Meerut and Muzaffarnagar; Gaurishankar and Neeldhara for large vehicles from Najibabad and Moradabad; and Laljiwala, Pant Dweep and Chamgadad Tapu for traffic from Dehradun and Rishikesh. Bairagi Camp served as a parking and holding area.
Some names recur, but that does not mean they will be used in 2027. The 2027 plan will decide.
What is not announced, and how to plan now
Not announced for 2027: parking sites and their fees, shuttle routes, stops and fares, park-and-ride points, the dates when vehicles will be barred, and drop-off points for older people or wheelchair users.
- Plan to leave the car at outer parking and walk, especially on the four Amrit Snan days, 6 March, 8 March, 15 March and 14 April 2027 (provisional).
- Arrive the day before a big bathing day, not on the morning itself.
- Write down the name of the car park and agree a meeting point there before the group walks to the ghat.
- If anyone in the group cannot walk far, consider the train, and ask your stay how vehicles reach it on bathing days.
- Look for the police traffic plan in the days before you travel. Do not trust a forwarded map that does not say who issued it and when.
