Inside Magh Mela 2027: Getting Around and Facilities
The 2027 layout and traffic plan have not been published. This page shows what happened last time: at the 2026 Magh Mela (seven sectors, seven pontoon bridges, 42 parking sites and shuttle buses on the main bathing days) and, where 2026 sources say nothing, at the much larger 2025 Maha Kumbh.
The first 2027 planning meeting, on 27 August 2026, spoke of eight sectors and nine pontoon bridges. That is a reported plan, not final.

Last time, for the 2026 Magh Mela, the Chief Minister's review in late November 2025 said seven pontoon bridges were being built, with chequered-plate paths over 160 km. At the 2025 Maha Kumbh there were 30 pontoon bridges.

On the mela authority's 2025 Maha Kumbh map each pontoon bridge had a number and a name, from 1 Akshaywat South and 2 Akshaywat North by the Sangam, through Triveni, Kali, Nagvasuki and Bharadwaj, up to 25 Kailashpuri in the north. Bridges 26 to 30 crossed below the Sangam between the Arail side and the Jhunsi side.

The 2025 traffic plan gave pilgrims on foot set arrival and return routes. Pilgrims who parked at Bela Kachar crossed a pedestrian pontoon bridge to the ghats and, after bathing, crossed back to Sector 10 and walked to the parking by the chequered-plate road. We found no official list of one-way bridges for the 2026 Magh Mela.

The 2025 traffic plan put parking zones 1 to 2 km from the bathing ghats, and the state said devotees should not have to walk more than 1.5 km to the Sangam. For the 2026 Magh Mela the mela officer said 42 temporary parking sites were set up.

For the 2026 Magh Mela the transport department decided to run 275 shuttle buses on the main bathing days, the first time it did so, Patrika reported, and the Chief Minister's review counted 75 electric shuttle buses linking the city with the mela area. In 2025, shuttle buses linked outer parkings with drop points such as Andava Junction and Balasan Chowk.

About 4,000 hectares in 25 sectors, by the state government's figures before the mela.
On the official 2025 map, sectors 1 to 3 were around the Parade Ground, Alopi temple and the Fort, and sectors 6 to 10 ran north along the city bank past the Nagvasuki temple to Shivkuti and Narayani Ashram. Sectors 11 to 20 and 22 were across the Ganga on the Jhunsi side. Sectors 23 to 25 were south of the Yamuna, around Arail, the Someshwar temple and the tent city. Sectors 4, 5 and 21 lay along the Ganga just above and at the Sangam.

Magh Mela mein Sangam tak kaise jaayein?
The 2027 plan is not out yet. Last time, in 2026, there were 42 parking sites, shuttle buses on the main bathing days, bike taxis and golf carts, and seven pontoon bridges across the Ganga. At the 2025 Maha Kumbh the parkings were 1 to 2 km from the ghats, and pilgrims walked from there.
How many pontoon bridges were there last time?
Seven at the 2026 Magh Mela, by the Chief Minister’s review of November 2025, and 30 at the 2025 Maha Kumbh. The first 2027 planning meeting spoke of nine, two of them on the Arail side; that is a plan, not final.
Can I take my car to the Sangam?
Not on the main bathing days, if 2025 is a guide. Then no-vehicle zones applied from a day before to a day after each main bathing day, and two days either side of Mauni Amavasya. The 2027 traffic plan is not out yet.
Are there toilets and changing rooms at the ghats?
Last time, yes. For 2026 the mela officer said the bathing ghats had changing rooms and toilets, and more than 25,000 toilets were built across the mela area.
Where is the lost-and-found centre at the Magh Mela?
The 2027 centres are not announced. At the 2025 Maha Kumbh there were ten, such as the model centre on Sangam Wapsi Road in Sector 4 and one at Khusrobagh opposite Prayagraj Junction. Police and mela staff can direct you to the nearest one.
Is there an official map or app for Magh Mela 2027?
Not yet, on 20 October 2026. The mela authority’s site, kumbh.gov.in, still shows the 2025 Maha Kumbh with its map and app. In 2026 Indian Railways ran a Mela Rail Seva app for station information.
