About KumbhMela.info

How We Work: Sources, Status Labels and Tirth.com

KumbhMela.info is an independent guide published by Tirth.com. It is not a government website and does not speak for any Kumbh authority. Every date we show carries a status label and a link to its source.

This page describes how we work. If our method changes, we will update it.

This page explains those labels, where our tithis come from, how Tirth.com fits in, and how to tell us about a mistake.

Who runs KumbhMela.info?

KumbhMela.info is published by Tirth.com, a pilgrimage planning and services platform. Both are owned by TravNext Tech Private Limited.

We are not the government, the mela administration, the police or an emergency service. For dates, routes, entry and safety, the authority running each Kumbh has the final word. Our job is to find what it publishes, explain it plainly and show when we checked it.

What the status labels mean

Every date and key fact on this site carries one of these labels.

LabelWhat it means
OfficialAnnounced by the authority in charge of that Kumbh.
ProvisionalAnnounced by the authority, but it can still change. Book only what you can cancel.
ExpectedFrom the Hindu calendar or a proposed plan. Not yet announced.
ReportedReported by the news. No official notice found yet.
Not announcedThe authority has not said yet.
Sources differTwo sources disagree. We show both.
HeldThis Kumbh has already taken place.

Example: Provisional

Haridwar’s ten bathing days for 2027 were announced by the mela administration and reported by PTI, but no government notice listing them has been found yet, so they are marked Provisional.

Example: Sources differ

The mela officer named three Amrit Snans for Haridwar 2027. A report of an Akhara Parishad meeting in November 2025 spoke of four, adding Chaitra Purnima on 20 April 2027. We show both.

Where our tithis come from

Bathing days follow the tithi, the lunar day. We show the tithi at sunrise on each date, taken from Tirth’s own panchang.

The month name depends on the calendar used in each region. For Nashik and Trimbakeshwar we use the amanta month, as Nashik does; it ends at the new moon. For Haridwar, Ujjain and Prayagraj we use the purnimanta month, which ends at the full moon. So one day can have two month names: Mahashivratri on 6 March 2027 falls in Phalguna by the purnimanta month and in Magha by the amanta month.

The bathing day itself is the date the authority announces. Sometimes the tithi at sunrise on that date is not the one the festival is named after. Magh Purnima on 20 February 2027 is an example: at sunrise that day the tithi is still Chaturdashi. We show both, as they are.

How we cite sources

  • Every fact that can change, such as a date, a rule, a number or a phone number, links to its source.
  • Each page shows the date we last reviewed it, next to its sources.
  • We use the strongest source we can find: the authority running the Kumbh first, then district, state and national bodies such as IMD, NCDC and Indian Railways, then trusted national news.
  • We do not use travel agencies or booking websites as sources.
  • Religious tradition is written as tradition, with words like “according to tradition”, not as fact. We do not rank akharas or saints.
  • When a newer notice replaces an older one, we update the page and its label.
  • The full rules are in our editorial policy.

How Tirth.com fits in

Tirth.com offers pilgrimage trips, stays and other services. KumbhMela.info itself does not sell or book anything.

  • A Tirth.com offer is always labelled as Tirth.com, and it is never part of an answer.
  • We show an offer only after the page has answered your question.
  • An offer never decides or changes a date, a fact or a status label.
  • If there is a crowd emergency at a Kumbh, we will pause every Tirth.com offer on this site and show official information only.
  • Tirth.com is not a Kumbh authority. Its own terms apply to its services.

How to report a correction

If something looks wrong or out of date, tell us on the contact and corrections page. Send the page address, the exact sentence, and a link to the authority’s own notice if you have one.

We check every message against the source before we change anything. Errors about dates, safety or emergencies come first.

If someone is in danger now, call 112. KumbhMela.info is not an emergency service.

Questions people ask

Is KumbhMela.info an official government website?

No. It is an independent guide published by Tirth.com. Official notices come from the authority running each Kumbh, and we link to them.

What does Provisional mean on a Kumbh date?

The authority has announced the date, but it can still change. Book only what you can cancel until a final notice confirms it.

Do Tirth.com offers change your answers?

No. Offers are labelled, shown only after the answer, and never change a date, a fact or a status label. They pause during a crowd emergency.
