The Legend of Panchavati
Panchavati, nestled on the banks of the Godavari in Nashik, holds a profound place in the Ramayana. It was here that Lord Rama, Sita, and Lakshmana spent a significant portion of their fourteen-year exile.
The name itself refers to the 'five banyan trees' (Vata) that marked their dwelling. Today, this sacred grove remains a pilgrimage site where the echoes of the Treta Yuga can still be felt in the rustle of the leaves and the steady flow of the river.
